Blacklisted by American Express?

Postby Bay area Joe » Sat Sep 15, 2012 3:18 pm

You all seem to have been here a while. How do you know if you are black listed from Amex?

I had a charge off with them, back in 1996 when I had a personal Gold Card, charge off was about 6k. Never paid a dime on it. Bad divorce, bad child custody. But that was 16 years ago though. I have great credit now, no problem getting credit.

What do you think the chances are to get approved for any Amex product ? I am looking personal and business accounts.

Thanks
Joe

Many people have reported that they were able to obtain new AMEX cards after previously burning them. Others have reported that AMEX has a long memory and cannot get another account.

The only way to know is to reapply. Since the Statute of Limitations has passed the only thing you have to lose is an inquiry.

I had a gold and and optima card that were charged off in bankrutpcy in 94 probably a little north of 12k, in 08 they sent me a blue sky pre approval with a 3k limit that card is now a blue cash with a 30k limit, i will always wonder what prompted that pre approval to be sent to me.
