Can you pay a credit card bill early?

Postby tlp123 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 2:50 pm

Can you pre pay the balance on an Amex Green card? Did a forum search and didn't not find thread on this. Sorry if overlooked.

Does AMEX allow balance pre-payment through billing cycle?

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, once you're out of your initial 30 day probationary period, you can prepay all you want online or over the phone. Wiring in the money would only be necessary during the first 30 days.
Amex Green - NPSL - 05/12
Amex Zync - NPSL - 06/12
Discover it - $7750 - 11/12
Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature - $5000 - 11/12
SECU Platinum Visa - $5000 - 08/08
Bank of America Cash Rewards Platinum Plus Visa - $3000 - 06/08
Citi Diamond Preferred Mastercard - $3000 - 05/12
GECRB Old Navy Visa - $2500 - 11/12
Chase Amazon Visa - $2000 - 11/12
Chase Freedom Visa - $2000 - 07/12
Citi Thank You Visa - $1000 - 06/12
Amex Blue Cash Everyday - $1000 - 01/13

Thanks again to all for the information.

Something else.

After the account and banking sources are fully established with no changes to either, are prepayments possible anytime?

Or, prepayments only possible every 7 to 8 business days?

Yep. That's how I did it with my green card. I charged something, wait a day for it to post to my account online, then I pay it the following day online. My monthly payment due was always zero at the end of the month. I did this for a year. After 13 months I called Amex and asked if qualified to upgrade to a gold card. I was approved on the spot and was told that I was also pre-qualified for a platinum card. I declined the platinum (because of the annual fee). I truly believe it was because I prepaid my bill each time I used the card. I hope this helps, Tlp123.
Cards:
American Express: Business Platinum-NPSL, Delta SkyMiles Gold-$2K
Chase: Sapphire Preferred-$5K, Southwest Airlines Visa-$3.7K, Freedom-$400
USAA: Platinum MC-$4K, Advantage Rate MC-$4K, Amex-$4K
FBNO: BucksBack Visa-$1K, Amex-$1.7K
GECRB: Walmart Discover-$3,7K
Barclays: Financing Visa-$3.2K, Juniper MC-$1.1K
Capital One: Platinum MC-$1.5K, Platinum MC-$750
CFNA: Firestone-$1.6K
CitiBank: Office Depot Business Card-$1K
