Will AmEx backdate authorized users?

Postby DeadSpider » Mon Aug 27, 2012 7:47 pm

Wife applied for Amex BCP JULY 2012 and added me as an authorized user so my card says member since 2012. One month later I applied for SKY and after logging in mine says member since 1999 (BK in 2004 with AMEX green) I called and they send me new card says 1999 and my Experian says open date 7/1999 for mine and 6/2012 for my AU card.

MY question is should I call Amex and have them make my AU card 1999 ?
Does it matter ?
Cap! QuickSilver VISA 2005 $6500
Chase Freedom MC 2006 $5000
Amex Sky 1999 $2000
BCE 1999 $8800
NFL 2013 $1500
Discover IT 2013 $3500
FICO July 16/2012 ---- 742 Experian (Amex)
BK comes off ---- 9/2014

It does matter. However I believe that is the new AMEX policy. AU accounts can set your member date. However they will not backdate AU cards to the member date of the AU card holder. All AU cards will show an open date of when it was actually opened.
Amex Centurion, Amex Platinum, Amex BCP 8k->24k (5/23/12), Amex TE 15k, Cap One 1.5% 15k->20k (8/7/13), CSP 25k, Chase Palladium 100k, Citibank AA 35k (AU), Firestone 1.8k->2.2k->2.4k (8/20/12), JFCU Jloc 30k, PenFed Plat Rewards 30k, SF Fire 30k, US Bank Cash+ 25k

Question about backdating AmEx with authorized users

Postby mcfly97 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 7:17 pm

I have three AUs on my amex account two of which have history with amex since 1992 is there anyway i can get my account backdated?

i know its far fetched but i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. both of the au's are of direct relation to me (mom and dad) and i was never on any of their credit accounts with amex prior to opening my own account

thanks in advance ;)
