In 2/12 I applied for and was approved for a jet blue with 10k limit. Trying my luck, the next week I applied for PRG and was approved. In 6/12, I applied for - and was approved for - a platinum.

My first week with PRG I couldnt charge $2500, as of today, my balance mid-month is $64k. I PIF every single month, usually before statement end period.

All I can say is: I LOVE AMEX!
Amex PRG - Everyday card:)
Amex Platinum
Amex Jet Blue 10k - For those purchases when you can't PIF
Barclays Rewards 4.5k - Just to have a lower debt ratio
NFCU Signature 15k - Just to have a lower debt ratio
USAA World MC 12k - Ditto

There are things I see and deal with every day that a lot of people wouldn't even dream of. Funny thing is less than half the patients we see actually need to be there. I'm kind of tired dealing with drug seekers and bulls****ers and those kind of things, I've been thinking about just getting my master's degree so I can be a technologist or something down in the basement lab where the pay is better and I don't have to deal with patients face to face. I work with a generally great group of people though and they make it fun. Ehh, the grass is always greener on the other side, and all that, haha.

I used to work in the ER here in hawaii. About 90% of our patients were just in there for dehydration, impaction, or both lol. Most just came in because their doctors offices were closed. The perks are good here, which keeps me here for now...but yeah the grass is always greener :)

As long as you apply for it you can get a different product, but you cannot product change within the year you get the one card (unless you are downgrading).

I want the platinum because it looks sweet, but I can't justify the annual fee. I don't think I could justify it even if I traveled more.

Mind you, I fly only about 5 or 6 times a year though.

You could fill out another application now and if approved take the HP as well as take on another account in your credit file. You would then carry a Gold and a Platinum. However, you cannot call them withinn a year of getting the gold and ask for a product change due to the CARD act.

So, yes, if you really want Platinum you can have it tomorrow if you apply for it rather than asking for a product change.
