Which Amex would I qualify for

Postby 432521 » Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:11 pm

So I want an Amex and will probably apply for one soon or in about 6 months to a year from now, but I want opinions before I do.

I am currently a Junior and college and work part time and with my fin aid/ scholarships my income is around 10-12K a year. And from scores provided to me by Chase and Discover my scores are in the 740-750 range. Would I qualify for any of Amex's revolvers? I think I would qualify for the Zync I am not willing to pay any type of fee when I can get cards for free.

Im pretty sure you would be approved for the two lower end charge cards from american express (i.e. Zync or green) maybe even the gold if your lucky. All three have af's but it is a lot harder to obtain a revolver from american express (i.e. Blue cash cards) unless you go for the delta gold which i have seen a lot of people our age obtain.

You should wait or get your foot in the door with your zync before trying to apply for an american express credit card
Wells Fargo Student Credit Card Visa - $1300 (February 2011)
American Express Zync Charge Card (February 2012)
Chase Freedom Visa- $2000 5% rotating (April 2012)
Citi Forward Visa- $3000 - 5x at restaurants, amazon.com (April 2012)
Chase Sapphire Preferred Mastercard World Elite - $5000 (July 2012)

Credit cards left to attain
-Amex BCE/BCP

well I would say 1 of there lending cards(revolver) the reason I say this is because there blue line and there clear are just regular credit cards, like the citibank dividend or chase Freedom. while American expresses premium cards target people with excellent credit.

more for people like the president of coldstone, shortline bus, Ibm

while there Blue line or clear is for people who work in warehouses, work in Friendlys.

don't get me wrong I'm sure there are people who have low paying jobs and have a gold or green.

about 4 months ago I was discussing with a capital1 supervisor , about the Blue card and the gold venture card
1 of the reasons she was telling me that I can't have the Blue for free is because, it targets people with excellent credit who pay there bills in full, she was telling met that there either has to be an annual fee or interest, since most everybody pays there bill in full the interest rate on the blue if I heard her correctly she said is 13.80 while on the gold is 17.90.

so when you think of there Blue line and clear I would guess around 20. something while the green has no interest.

I would think there revolvers would be easier than there premiums.

I'm not sure about BCP, but I can't imagine it being that different. I only have referrals for BCE. You can apply for that for that and then upgrade a year later.

I have BCP (EX was in 730s when I got approved) if you want I can pm you a referral link or I know there are others here that have it but can't remember.
