Indeed Europe is the problem although I'm surprised about London. England (Not the UK but just England) is actually pretty good with Amex acceptance in general, one of the few EU countries that it is. I even came across a restaurant the other day that only took Amex and diners/discover in the East of England.

At least once a month these past few months.

I can see someone doing a lot transactions getting major value out of this, it's a very simple/straight forward process. Not to mention it's no questions asked. Their website is also very user friendly so I typically do most of my correspondence there, takes minutes

[quote="MemberSince99"]If you are talking just about acceptance, then Visa and Mastercard are top dog. Amex and Discover lag behind. I've had places around here that don't take Amex. Some also don't take Discover. I've never seen a place yet that didn't take Mastercard and Visa (if they take one 100% of the time they take the other).

Totally agree with nedyah700. I also give the biz a bad yelp review if they dont take amex. Even worse when they are cash only.

IF you had to use it only once.. it's good to know they will be there by your side. Its not a matter of how much you have to use it BUT when you have to.

Thanks! To answer the question that was asked about contacting customer service. It's not really just about how many times I call them. Don't get me wrong whenever I do call they always have an answer and if it was an issue on their end they usually offer me MR points as an apology. It's about the whole package. The mobile app is top notch, the website is better than ANY other card issuer, the perks that come with the card are unrivaled, and like i said before, the phone support is fantastic.

No one should be forced to accept a payment other than cash. Merchants take plastic because their research shows people spend more than they would with cash and raise their prices to cover their credit card fees.

I agree, but simply...if they dont take plastic and particularly not amex...they dont want my business. Thats how I look at it.
