Backdating question

Postby amexcurious » Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:55 am

I got my Delta Platinum card the other day, and it says "Member since 12".

However, I was a member also from 1986 to 1998. When I log into my account on americanexpress.com it says "Member since 1986".

What gives?

This is pure curiosity. It doesn't really matter to me what it says on the card, and I have other credit references going back that far on my credit report anyway.

If it says Thank You amexcurious for being a Member Since 1986 when you log on to your online account that generally means that where it counts, on the bureaus, it will report as opened 7/86. You can call and ask for the card to say Member Since 86 if you want. I would. You may want to pull your Experian in a month to ensure that it is reporting as opened 7/86 but if it says 1986 when you log on to your account then you should be good to go.

As far as the descrepency between reporting 1986 and what the card has for the Member Since year, this is not uncommon and a call to Amex can fix it.

Well, I doubt I'll call Amex to get a new card sent, I couldn't care less what the "member since" says.

We'll see what Experian says. I subscribe to a service that allows me to pull my report with them every day, so far the inquiry shows up, but not the new account.
