Postby DeadSpider » Fri Jul 27, 2012 10:09 pm

Now that i got my own card and got them to send me another card backdating to 1999, my question is does it matter the date on my AU card (from wife) says 2012 ?

Should i care about AU date saying 2012 but im a memeber since 99 ?

If you get them to reissue her card with your 99 date it will be reflective on her credit report and boost her credit age, my wife is an authorized user on my account and my member date goes back to 89 and that's what it shows on her credit report her oldest card by far is my amex.

Will Amex backdate me if I was just added on as AU on account establish in 1999? And if so will they backdate it when I apply for my own account?

On your credit report the account that you were added on will report as opened in 1999; however, your Member Since date is 2012 as 2012 was the year you were added. So if you open your own AMEX next year, it will report as opened in 2012. They don't normally backdate additional cardmembers to the primary cardmember's Member Since date for their own cards; however, some people have had success.

If i call Amex will they issue me the AU a new card with my 1999 member date ?
I doubt they will backdate her just because the AU is from 99.

Will having AU backdate make any difference ?
