How to tell if your app was approved or declined by the email subject

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 9:39 pm

I've gotten emails with both results. The subject for approval was:
Your Card Application Has Been Approved!
While for a decline it was:
Your Application Decision

Both came from American Express New Accounts

This way you can tell at a glance what your results are. The first results are a lot better to see no doubt!

I actually didn't receive an email about approval even though I applied online, just checked moments after applying for the status.
Cards in my wallet:
-Citi Forward Card for College Students-July 2011
-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013

You would have had to check the box to consent to receiving decision related communication electronically in order to receive any emails regardless of whether you applied online or not. That's great that they approved it so fast that you didn't even have the chance to do that though. I wish my apps went that smoothly :P

I've yet to ever get an instant response with Amex but on my last application they said they hadn't even got the information from Experien yet (This is in the UK). This was 48 working hours after I applied.
