Backdating confusion and question?

Postby m20e3087 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 7:34 am

My mom was AU on my dad's GREEN or Platinum not sure since 1998. My dad closed his account around 2006 or 2007. She opens a Platinum card this year, and online it says member since 1998. I thought it only works for primary account holders. ??

Also if my mom adds AU to her account, and when those AU get there own AMX, will it back date to 1998 as well? confused!!

I have been with AMX since 2004, so if she adds me as an AU, will my account back date as well??

The additional cardholder's Member Since year is supposed to be the same year that they were added to the account. So, if your old man opened the account in 1998 and added your mom at the same time, then her Member Since year should be 1998.

If your mom adds someone to her account, that additional cardmember's Member Since year should be 2012. Her Platinum *may* report on their bureaus as opened 7/98 but if they go open their own account say in 2015 then their new account would report their Member Since year as 2012.

Your Mileage May Very (YMMV) and it can be hit or miss with the backdating.

If your mom adds you to her Platinum it may report on your bureau as opened 7/98; however, this will NOT backdate your own personal account from 2004 to 1998.
