Because you paid them, they should let you back in. Your current score is good enough for Zync. It just really depends on how they view the former card. And there is truly only one way to find that out. We can all sit around and speculate but that's worth what you paid us for it. Congratulations on getting a card and good luck getting back with them when the time is right for you.

I just applied at a lower level bank and got a rewards card with a 0 APR for 6 months and a $4000 limit. I have to travel for work again in a couple of weeks and will be gone for almost a month. This will be a huge help. Thanks again.

I still plan to mail AMEX and try to get the failure to pay off of my report. Maybe one day I will start my way up from the Zync and see if I can get back with them.

Was it a CapOne Card? I have too many inquiries on my report to get a $4,000 limit. I have a 686 EX and 690 TU credit score and a resolved payment issue that is less than 2 years old. So it is not all about the score! I did get a $2,500 limit with a 667 EX and 677 TU score. I closed an account and the score dropped, when the new one reported it went up 20 points..
EX 686 TU 690

Cap One $500 6/10 closed no CLI 7/12
Cap One $2000 9/10
Household $500 9/11
Merrick Bank $2800 10/07
Marathon $900 10/11
Bealls $950 10/11
Marathon Visa $2500 6/12 Yeah finally a good limit card!
Barclays Rewards MC $1500 8/12
Belks $800 8/12
Walmart $1000 8/12

I also think you should give the Zync a try. I've heard that it's one of the easiest cards to get from Amex, and if you're pre-approved it'll help improve your odds even more. However, it's not a card you can upgrade later. You might consider a new application though. The gold does have a pretty good bonus for new applications (25,000 Points when you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months) though.
