Do all Zync cards have an extremely low credit limit?

Postby brandon » Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:50 am

I got the Zync card a few months ago, and noticed that for some reason there was a limit of $500. Having such limit was embarrassing especially when I tried to purchase a Rolex.

Anyways I was wondering why they told me that the card cannot be upgraded to a high limit or virtually no pre-set limit. I can't apply for a Green since they just approved me for a Zync a couple of months ago (they said it wouldn't be approved and suggested for me to wait a few more months). Do all Zync cards start at such insignificant limit?

I have the 500 limit on mine. I've heard that after 6 months, they will review it to see if they can upgrade u to npsl. I'm at month 5 with my card, the limit is annoying. Especially since I got my bill and paid it off 3 times just so I keep charging lol.

Not all Zync cards have this limit - mine didn't. They give you the limit if they feel you are marginal in their eyes and internal scoring system when you apply. (They actually counter offer it from what I've read). You get the option of either a 200 limit without autopay or 500 with autopay.

I've also read that despite some reps saying the limit can be lifted with time, when people actually go to get it lifted they are told it can't be removed and you will have to apply for another card.

Of course this assumes that you got the limit when you applied which you should have known, and it's not because Amex did a Financial Review on you and then gave you a limit. In that case, they probably will eventually remove or increase the limit. Otherwise if you got a limit when you applied, you are probably stuck with that limit as long as you have the card from what I've read.

You can try contacting Amex in 6 months or a year and see if they will remove your limit. If not, you may be in better shape to apply for a different card without the limit.

Be glad you got any Amex. If you got hard limit then you were marginal approval and would have been rejection before this program. I am surprised however that you werent aware of limit. Did you get npsl?

+1 not all ZYNC cards have limits, i was approved instantly with NPSL, only limit was, which i thought was great at the time.... they gave me a temp number to use with a $200 limit or something until i activated the real card.
