They won't let me pay my bill

Postby bmw1990Z » Fri Jul 06, 2012 8:28 am

Ok so I got my delta skymiles card and although my first statement won't come out til July 11th, I like to pay charges as they post to my account. I already made an online payment for last weeks charges of 100.00 and this week I go on to pay for my charges and it won't let me pay because "no payment is due at this time."

I called the number on the back of my card trying to go through the automated voice prompts and it says the same thing and won't let me pay. I don't want to have interest on these charges! With my citi card, I just log on and pay as they post. What should I do?
Cards in my wallet:
-Citi Forward Card for College Students-July 2011
-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013

You won't have to pay interest at all my friend. As long as you pay the full previous statement balance before your due date you'll be good to go since you're still within your grace period. Amex is funny with how they accept your payments when you're a new member. After your first 30 days they'll remove those restrictions from your account and you can continue to pay as they post like you do with your other accounts.
Amex Green - NPSL - 05/12
Amex Zync - NPSL - 06/12
Discover it - $7750 - 11/12
Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature - $5000 - 11/12
SECU Platinum Visa - $5000 - 08/08
Bank of America Cash Rewards Platinum Plus Visa - $3000 - 06/08
Citi Diamond Preferred Mastercard - $3000 - 05/12
GECRB Old Navy Visa - $2500 - 11/12
Chase Amazon Visa - $2000 - 11/12
Chase Freedom Visa - $2000 - 07/12
Citi Thank You Visa - $1000 - 06/12
Amex Blue Cash Everyday - $1000 - 01/13

Or if you have bill pay through your own bank you can force a payment through that way.

I don't think amex eliminates that payment restriction because i've had the card for almost 4 months and it still doesn't let me make payments. I gave up and pay thru my bank bill pay system. If they get the money they're forced to post it.

You have at least 21 days from the statement date to pay the account without interest.

July 11th + 21 days = August 1st

Strange. I can pay as often as I want it seems with no restrictions (platinum / zync). Do their cards differ on payment options?

If you're really trying to make a payment because you feel the need, I'd recommend speaking to a live representative. The automated system works a lot like online, but agents can do a bit more than those.

There are restrictions until the first statement is generated. For the poster who is having problems making payments multiple times a month, call AMEX CS. Even with the restriction, you can call AMEX CS and talk to someone (not automated system) to make multiple payments in a month (even the first month).
