My payment is due in 2 weeks, is this normal?

Postby Kicker » Wed Jul 04, 2012 3:41 pm

Hey all, I just got my first payment notification for my green card. I purchased a 200 dollar monitor last weekend and now, I also have the 95 dollar annual fee added on to it. But the thing that surprises me even more, is the fact that my payment is due on July 17th...I bought the monitor on June 29th..I thought we had a month to pay it off?

Please help and thank you.

And would it hurt to call and ask if they could possibly waive the 95 dollar fee?

I doubt they will waive the fee. You knew about the fee when you signed up for the card.

The statements normally close at the end of the month, then are due in the middle of the next month. It looks like you had a partial first month, which closed at the end of June. Pay in full and you're good.

Yes, it's normal for your payment to be due in 2 weeks. It caught me off guard when my first green card statement closed, but as long as you make sure that you have the cash to pay in full before making the purchase you'll have no problems.

I called just now and I got it waived. Their sign up sheet indicates that the 1st yr will be waived so I just mentioned that to the person and she pretty much waived it for me. She said I should see the change around 24-48 hrs.

Thanks cyberius and ratefacedudeguy2. The closing date is July 3rd. So as long as I pay on or before August 3rd I'm good right? My brother told me they ask for it earlier but you're all set as long as you pay within a month

That's great they got the fee waived - if they offer it for free for the 1st year it's definitely good you caught it.

I don't mean to sound rude, but if you are having trouble or need another month to find $200 for a monitor, why did you sign up for a card with a $95 yearly fee? I may be completely wrong, but their please pay on date is the due date. I have heard otherwise as well, that it's within 30 days (before the next cycle - which would be before the 1st) but I always, without fail, make sure to pay on their please pay by date.

When I first got a charge card, I noticed the short window for payment due. Once the pay over time option was added, it went to a full 30 days.

My due date has always been a full 30 days even without the pay over time. I'm betting he activated in the middle or end of a month and it just closed at the regular interval. My due date is always the middle of the month and closes at the end of a month.
