Phone number for requesting Amex credit limit increases?

Postby m20e3087 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 3:52 pm

Is the special phone number for a credit limit increase on Blue Cash? Also is it hard or soft pull?

Nope, you may call the # on the back of your card and go through the automated prompts for the CLI. Or you may go online and request it. There is a link at the bottom of the account summary screen.

As long as your account has been opened 61 days you should be good to go. Amex CLI's are soft inquiries.

Thanks CC. also forgot to mention, my credit is frozen. Do I have to unfreeze, before I request for CLI? Also I don't see any CLI option on my account.

From what I understand is that Amex still receives soft updated scores every month to three months despite the freeze. Amex bases the CLI requests on these updated scores.

Yeah, the CLI option is very sneaky like Where's Waldo? I find that I usually see it when I am looking at transactions. On the bottom of the screen there is a 'Request an Increase to my credit line" link. It is not a bottom but rather a link. I could not find it on mine just now either but it won't let me see my old transactions. Every time I try to search it takes me to my Zync account....

Requested over the phone. The guy said in 7 to 10 days you will get a mail, with our decision. I asked for 3X, and have never asked for CLI since I had the card open (04). So finger crossed, we shall see..

what was your utlization on your other cards? That most likely is the reason it wasn't an instant approval.

It's between 10% to 12%. Thinking if I should call and find out. Is there a backdoor number for AMX?

Yeap declined!! Man I was so mad..Spoke them for 1/2 hr no help. Hopefully it was a soft pull. Then I went ahead applied for the platinum, was denied for the same reason. Score FICO 765, uti, 12%. They said science I carried balance for several months on all of my cards, and the paid minimum that's why I was turned down. I said but now its all been paid for, with no late, so whats the problem. After having no luck I said F*** it. Will try after 6 months.
