657 credit score and got approved for Zync! Hopefully...

Postby VashX » Sun Jun 24, 2012 1:55 am

Been repairing my credit the last 4 months, went from 539 EX score to 657 score.

Was scared to apply, but just did so anyway, and got approved with the 500 limit + autopay option.

I then proceeded filling out my bank info and clicked finish and then it went to a screen that said wait 60 seconds, less than 5 seconds it went to another screen that had the Zync card and a blank page... the address bar had "thank you" on it but don't know what happened.

On the phone with AMEX now waiting to see what happened.

For this who are interested in my report, here is what I got:

- 657 credit score on Experian
- 1 Late 30 on my Capital One (Is getting removed within the next month, got a grace from them) (0.4 months ago)
- 1 Late 30 and 1 Late 60 on a Closed Chase Card. (0.7 months ago)

Utilization is 52%

Will let you all know what happens when I get off the phone... fingers crossed.

To finish up, lady on the phone gave me a number to call after an hour to see status. I called and gave the automated machine my info and said I was approved! :)

Also wanted to let everyone know I been using the Amex prepaid for 2 months and loaded the card to the max each month of $2500 and used it. Not sure if this helped me or not.

Congrats! :)

I don't think prepaid helps with your AMEX rapport, as there's no risk to them. You're credit re-building must be working!

I got approved for a Zync a few days ago, and I'm waiting for it to arrive. It seems like a great card, with good benefits for a fairly low annual fee. Is this your first AMEX?

Thanks!

Yeah I am not sure either, just saw they had the Make Your Move to track your progress with them and thought it couldn't hurt to try.

This is my first AMEX, trying to get my foot in the door with them because I really want to get a business card through them for my new business.

Going to garden for the next 6 months to establish credit with the zync, get my utilization down to <7%, and have the CO Chase Card lates age to over a year.

Hopefully then I can get a business card through them.

You are incorrect. While it does nothing to help your credit score, using Amex's prepaid card allows them to see how you manage your card and they keep tabs on you. If they feel you are worthy of credit they will extend offers to you based on your card usage. I would say the reason the OP was approved is his usage with the prepaid card.

I stand corrected then. Still, congratulations.
