I don't really have anything concrete. Just from what I've seen when people list their new Amex Blues or whatever in their signatures the credit limits seem to be generally lower than the other cards they have listed. I might be way off here, but that's what generally sticks out in my mind.

You should try and get 3X CLI from amex when eligible until about 30k. You might get denied, but no harm as it is soft based. Basically, no real harm to asking for CLI and lots of potential upside.
Amex Centurion, Amex Platinum, Amex BCP 8k->24k (5/23/12), Amex TE 15k, Cap One 1.5% 15k->20k (8/7/13), CSP 25k, Chase Palladium 100k, Citibank AA 35k (AU), Firestone 1.8k->2.2k->2.4k (8/20/12), JFCU Jloc 30k, PenFed Plat Rewards 30k, SF Fire 30k, US Bank Cash+ 25k

Wouldn't it be 13 - T days? Since you are counting down? Or T - X = 13 days? If it's T - 13 days then unless your T = 26 it wouldn't make sense :D

I've had my Amex blue for 3.5 years and they gave me an embarassing CL at the time I got it, however I did carry balances on other cards at the time. They gave me 1/10th of my other card limits. I asked for a CLI over the phone somewhere between 3-9 months into the card and was denied, and then I never used it again.

Just went on and did a request for 3X and was approved..the CL is still only 6K but will try again in 60-90 days for 15K. At $15-25K I would look at a product change if possible, not that I have any use for a bare bones Amex though when I have a Fidelity.

Year and a half credit increase

Postby willierw » Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:51 pm

I have had my blue cash preferred for 17 months (started with zync 31 months old) and was originally given $5 k limit and never asked for an increase. So i saw this thread and though i should give it a try and ask for $15k and was approved. My balance has always been $1k to $2k a month and i always pay it off so i was not surprised. I also use my zync and green 5 or so times a years for big purchases, like electronics or most recently my car lease (prepaid).

Just called today 5/28/13 10:00hrs while on vacation in Panama Rep of Panama, and asked for X3 increase after 65 days having my blue sky and was instantly approved. No hard pull, they do take into account your payment history and other cards you have with them, i also have a platinum which I use when out of the country in addition to my blue sky so that helps for the approval. they even say I could ask for X4, but I'm happy with the generous limit I have now.
