Not meaning to be offensive just funny, but still thinking about getting rejected by Cap One, man that's like you are desperate for a date to the prom so you ask the ugly fat chick that no one is going to ask and she turns you down. I mean I had to laugh thinking of that. 3 hard pulls for that rejection as well which makes it sting all the more. But seriously when Crap One doesn't want you, it should tell you something....they give credit to EVERYONE.

Just for the record as well about Amex's vaunted customer service, they asked why I was closing the cards, and I told them. None of them cared to get to the bottom of the issue they were just as happy to close the cards as HSBC and Crap One were when I called them to cancel their cards. But Amex customer service is pretty much on the same level these days so I can't say I'm much surprised. I'm terribly sorry about that sir I guess it's just too bad if we think you're a deadbeat for nothing, let me go ahead and close that card for you......

Dang man, I am sorry to hear about all of this....Sounds like you went on a binge! I am glad you were able to find humor in your denial from Crap One. You are better off without them anyway. I will never have a Crap one card ever again. Is there anything on your CR that could've caused the denials?

My condolences for the denials my friend. I've just had a healthy string of denials myself within the past few weeks, and I guarantee you if I was to apply for a Crapital One card, I'd be rejected too. That's fine though, I'll just be comfortable with what I have and bounce back in 6 months or so.

Thanks guys. It's easy to laugh about since Discover showed me some luv.

The only thing they wouldn't like on my reports other than the new accounts would be inquuiries. There aren't THAT many except on EX Discover had no problem approving me checking EQ.

Blue is now history as I paid the charges from Monday and called to cancel.

FYI for those who are interested, with Blue you do not have to speak with a CSR to cancel - you can do it via the automated system. This is different from the charge cards. Don't know why but figured I'd add that for those into Amex trivia.

Kinda disappointed me in a way, when the foreign CSR got on and asked (inevitably) why I was cancelling, I was going to tell him that Amex used to be great but then they got all these CSRs who talk funny and you can't understand who screw everything up and I just don't want to deal with that. Oh well I guess I wasn't meant to have fun at their expense. There is some truth to it though.

I have no further reason to be posting in the Amex forum, so this is it for me. If you have any questions about my experience with Amex, drop me a note, otherwise I'll be in the other forums.

OP, you need to take care of this. If Amex thinks you are delinquent on a card, your issue is that it might result in collection activity down the line. If that collection hits your credit, you're likely to find many of your existing card issuers don't want to do business with you. Call the Amex executive offices before this turns into something bigger. Do a search for Amex executive office telephone number.

I'm sorry, but I believe that Amex's mistakes are not my issue. Anyone can say anything they want about anyone and there is no way to prove a negative - I can say Crashem you had my super fragellistic kryptonite card and are delinquent on it and it is logically impossible for you to prove that is false as a negative cannot be proven.

If Amex makes it an issue by attempting collections on an account I never had, I can tell you that legal action will ensue and I will initiate if they do not. We do have some rights left and i'm a believer in using them and not letting someone push you around on bogus charges. That's all I will say about that. It's one thing if you do owe, and it's another thing if you don't. So my hope is they will be very careful about being sure what they do is accurate as the law requires them to be.

But honestly, if I lose every card I have, I'll live. I really will. I think to be honest I was a fool to care so much about something so stupid in the first place as these cards and my credit. I honestly don't sweat it nearly as much now. And I'm better off feeling that way. I still pay my cards religiously, I just don't live for this nonsense anymore. That's foolish, take it from me.

As a follow up to all of this, last night I got the crazy notion to call Amex and see about reinstating the cards. Why? Not because I would use them - I have Discover who I'm happy with. Simply to try to keep my score from plummeting when the backdating goes off.

No go - they would not do it. I know it's just as well but I won't be able to look at my scores for some time to come. It's entirely possible in a couple of months I'll be in the 600s, or for sure low 700s. Part of me cares, and part of me really doesn't. I really don't want Amex in terms of using their cards but the backdating was nice, but really it's better this way even if it's going to hurt!

So I've seen on other boards that Amex will reopen within 90 days - not always true, YMMV. Just an FYI. There are few absolutes in life.

That is the problem with [some if not majority of] U.S. consumers as I have observed for a long time, always feeling entitled and riding in a high horse. Even if there is a way to resolve things early on in the process, it is either bickering (although I understand how you feel) or lawsuits.

Clear your head and fix this in a calm without the entitlement crap. Putting myself in your shoes, I'd call them and get this fixed ASAP. The last resort is closing accounts and even a lawsuit if this is not fixed.
