As someone who has worked over a decade in retail, it doesn't matter what card someone uses, it matters who the person is, and how nice or sh*tty they are to an hourly retail worker. Seriously. I would gladly give my time and attention to a customer that smiled at me first or said hello, regardless how he/she was dressed. People are just people and no one likes to be treated poorly. The richest thing you can ever put on before you go out is an amazing smile. Flashing a smile will get you better service than flashing a card.

No pretentiousness, just truth right here. Most heartfelt thing I have heard in a long time.

As for compliments, everytime I use my Zync I sometimes get "Wow! I've never seen this card before. Is it real?" I tell them to swipe it and find out LOL. Waitors/Waitresses tell me that it must be better than Platinum (I guess the snowy white looks more fancy to them?) but then again, I don't know too many people who carry the Zync anyway. Needless to say, I made a thread that never made it up yet about going from Zync to Gold PR and I bit the bullet and went for the Gold PR anyway and was approved immediately. I'm glad those MR Express points will be converted to the real MR points!
Amex PR Gold - NPSL (Daily) [8/2012]
Amex Zync - NPSL (Ex-Daily) [10/2010]
Amex BCE - 19.2k [8/2012]
Chase Freedom Visa - 5k [8/2012]
PSECU Visa/PSL - 20k [9/2012]

recently, i used my amex zync at my workplace and as my co-worker was running the card he was surprised to see me with an amex then complained that i must be as loaded as everyone says. finally, noticing the white color of the card, he believed that it was some above centurion level card. He legitimately called it the Ivory amex and seriously considered that they were killing elephants to make new credit cards. I was laughing my ass off the entire time he ranted at me. truly it was worth card membership

When I'm in the US, I never get compliments with my gold corp Amex but in the UK I get all sorts of compliments in restaurants etc. Amex charge cards are very exclusive in the UK.

Amex Blue Cash USA
Amex US Gold Corporate Card
World MasterCard Capital One UK (Free abroad + Cashback + Free Cash Withdrawals with no interest)

LOL funny! I'm gonna call my amex now the ivory amex. That's very catchy!

Never had a single comment on the gold card. They are a dime a dozen in Atlanta. I get more cimmense on my unique cards like the blue cash and chase sapphire. Most of the sapphire comments are out of frustration though.
