Will it look bad to have a high balance?

Postby irvine801 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:54 am

Question. A lot of my balances are getting high up there due to my girl being between jobs and a last minute Vegas trip. She got a new high paying job but now I'm scared amex may see my increase balances as a "risk" and close me out. Any thoughts? I'm not struggling or missing payments at all. And everything should be getting paid down with her new job. Thanks all.

Anything reporting with a total of util% over 9% puts you at risk for a few things:

The first and immediate, will be a negative impact to your FICO scores. That is guaranteed, the amount of points deducted will vary.

The other being amex CLD'ing you. Not likely, but to think it won't happened is being quite naive. Amex doesn't play.

Try your best to make MORE than the minimum pmt and NEVER miss a pmt. The 2nd worse thing I've done to my CRs was make amex send a 5$ late fee to collectons.
