EDIT: I just called them and evidently my application is indeed being processed manually. So the approval for the Zync must have eliminated the 30 day waiting period after the previous decline. Whether or not it gets approved I'm glad to have been able to solidify this information about Amex's application processing methods. And if it's declined it's a hard pull so I've got nothing to lose right!

I think you meant a soft pull. But yeah exactly.

Mine was manually reviewed and approved a couple of days later I'd say you have a good chance.

Yeah I just noticed that. D'oh! Yeah the same thing happened with my Zync app. Apparently there was a discrepancy with my address that they needed to verify, even though it pulled it directly from my account (???) and then it was approved.

Were you approved for the BCE? Just curious. I applied for the PRG and BCP on the same day last week - was approved for the PRG but not the BCP.

I decided that I could make more use of the Delta Skymiles card than the Zync card so I app'd for that. (Call me Appbar I'm pretty much there). Got the "pending further review" notice. With Amex it could go either way it's not an auto-decline like with some others (cough cough Chase, Citi) so will report back the results as they come in.

By the way for Ratfacedudeguy, I was thinking I'd app for the Delta Gold then try Zync just to see if an approval universally resets the clock, if approved (who knows if that will happen) but now I'm not so sure about the wisdom of that as I'd make better use of the Delta card.

But I wanted to thank you for letting us know about the different types of cards and how they work with the 30 day limit. That is good info!

No, I was never approved for the BCE. Honestly I'm kind of over it, but we'll see.

No problem at all! My experience was an approval does universally reset the clock, but I'll definitely be interested to know your results. Having those backdated accounts will certainly help your prospective CSP app next summer, so it definitely won't hurt to try.

Well I got the decline today. I checked the reason for the decline and it was:

Thank you for applying for the Gold Delta SkyMiles(R) Card. We're writing to let you know we cannot approve your application at this time because American Express cancelled your previous account(s).

Interesting - I could have sworn it was me who cancelled my previous accounts, but 6 of one half a dozen of the other right? That's the ONLY reason given. I guess I would translate that as being they don't want my business. I've already tried calling cusotmer service about things like this so I know how far that would get me (don't waste the time, based on past experiences).

Guess it's time to move on and not look back. Just wanted to post the results, at least they didn't take too long to decline me.

By the way it's a shame I can't change my userid, since I'm not a member anymore (and won't be again). I think Appbar1411 would be a great name for me! Just gotta get the picture of the ant on here....

Very strange, man... They're processing my application for my Gold card now. The crux that made me apply for it was that my car broke down yesterday a mile up the street from my house and I realized that I could have definitely used the unrestricted roadside assistance... But anyway, the relevance is that my last BCE app was denied on 6/29 and today is 7/16 and they haven't cancelled the application. Maybe I can use this as another test for the universal reset if the Gold ends up being approved.

Awesome man you'll have to let us know. I'm pulling for you hope you get it!

I must be a glutton for punishment but I called the number given for questions on my lunchtime. CSR found the app and said yes it was denied becauise Amex cancelled your cards is this not correct? I said no, I cancelled all 3 of them, Amex didn't cancel them, at least to my knowledge (unless they did like some bosses do when you give your notice and say 'you can't quit on me you're FIRED!')

Honestly I don't know what difference it makes anyway as none of the accounts were delinquent to be honest - I just got statemetnts for 2 of them Saturday that said Zero balance no payment is due. So what difference it really makes who cancelled, beats me, though Amex probably wouldn't cancel on you unless you did something they really don't like (like not paying your bill) but that isn't the case here. Anyway she re-submitted it for another review.

I guess my only worry is I've read that Amex MAY do another HP if you request a recon. So I may have screwed myself there, though honestly with all I have now one more isn't going to make that much difference. It would suck to get 2 HPs like that and still get declined for essentially a bogus reason.

But I will post when I hear back either way. I can't find out now if it universally resets so you'll have to take one for the team!
