Delta SkyMiles Options & Classic card

Postby bmw1990Z » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:17 am

I was booking a flight on Delta this morning and while browsing through my Skymiles options, I found out that their are more Skymiles cards than just gold, plat, and reserve. This probably isn't any new info to you frequent flyers, however the other two cards they offer through Amex, Delta Skymiles classic and options, are basically the same rewards but you don't get the big sign up bonuses. The classic has a fee which is $40 while the options is free. Unlike the plat and reserve cards, you don't earn bonuses or MQMs.

My question is why they offer these cards and why aren't they advertised on the Amex website? Are these cards just easier to obtain than the advertised versions?

-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013

I believe 1 of them is the basic Sky Miles, isn't the annual fee 55.00? Don't know why they aren't advertised on American Expresses site.

Is the 2nd Classic card you are talking about an American Express Delta Skymiles card? Or is it just a Delta skymiles card?

Example: there's a Nordstroms card and then there's a Nordstroms VISA. A Macys card and a Macys American express card.

It looks like both of those cards do not really give you anything like free checked bags or anything other than simply earning miles when you spend money. I'm guessing that they are in existence if you don't qualify for any of the others.

I'm sorry, I just looked at the comparison and saw they don't offer you the other benefits that the Amex cards do. Therefore I don't know why you'd want these...
