You make quite a bit of money so $20K probably won't put too much of a strain on you and it will get a high quality, impressive ring by anyone's reasonable standards. Hopefully she isn't the type that expects you to drop a lot more on one ;)

The funny thing is that I am actually the one that spends and she is not. As a matter of fact she doesn't like luxury items!! She'll buy clothes anywhere, not fly first class, not a luxury car, anything like that so I love buying her top of the line goodies very frequently. I must admit I am very lucky she is this way.

1/2 on card, 1/2 on 0% finance. Get what you want. It's a one time deal.

Make sure she stays like that and you don't accidentally convert her mindset. Otherwise, yes, that's awesome. I cannot say I've ever had the same experience.

Lucky, indeed. Hell if she really doesn't care just get her a nice $5K ring and take an extra luxurious honeymoon. Or go on another Louis Vuitton spree - makes for a better accessory than a ring IMO :D

I am a frequent shopper at LV and she does not like this brand. She likes forever 21 and simple stuff. Victoria's Secret is as far as she'll go :/ Yeah we will go on a huge honeymoon for sure but that is a given. She's not very flashy now I am not sure if I am now complainting because she doesn't like spending I guess that's the human nature we like what we don't have I am sure I would be very upset if she went crazy every month!!

Yeah it's definitely better than the opposite. I don't make much but have expensive taste (though fortunately I am able to keep my spending in check).

I don't think it's bad to spend if you have the means to after all that's the reason we work so hard.

Oh, absolutely not! But if luxury items don't do much for her then you can put your money to better use elsewhere. That can only be a good thing.

http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2501480

A paper comparing wedding spending with divorce rates. I have yet to read it in full, but it seems interesting so far.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when
