That's one of the things I love about Amex too, that they are in your corner. And if a dishonest merchant rips you off, you know they'll back you. I've done a lot of transactions online, only had a few over the years where it was just an obvious and blatant rip-off by the merchant (less than .001%) but those times it happens, it's great to know it will be taken care of.
And backdating, their outstanding CS, Amex is really in a class of its own. Honestly I don't mind a bit paying the AF for such great cards. Don't tell them, but I'd pay more if need be!
