Also it kind of went downhill from too many members. I think Canada has its own program (as do most countries). Not sure if your benefits match up or better or worse than US. Also what was your initiation fee and annual fee?

I think the services offered should be similiar across the board no? I pay $5000 initiation (ass rape lol) and $2500/year (the lube for said ass rape to ease the pain) hahahahahaha

Kidding.. I love AmEx (as per my long standing UNINTERRUPTED membership since 89)

As for your comment of stop issuing Cent cards in US, why?? Also with invites with no qualifications being released, you may have a chance of getting one!

They did not issue any Cent. in 2011 and still unclear what qualifications are in 2012 as moved to invite only and very few issued this year in the US that is.

As for benefits, every major country has its own team and the benefits from country to country can vary widely as can the fees.
Amex Centurion, Amex Platinum, Amex BCP 8k->24k (5/23/12), Amex TE 15k, Cap One 1.5% 15k->20k (8/7/13), CSP 25k, Chase Palladium 100k, Citibank AA 35k (AU), Firestone 1.8k->2.2k->2.4k (8/20/12), JFCU Jloc 30k, PenFed Plat Rewards 30k, SF Fire 30k, US Bank Cash+ 25k

If I were invited by AMEX I would think hard about whether to spend the $5000. I could afford it. The $2500 per year would also be affordable and tolerable. I guess you'd say I don't mind buying the lube but I'd want to be pretty sure I will like the ending before I submit if you get my drift...

But, I take the lack of invites in a different way. I suspect that they are phasing the card out. It is likely not very profitable and there is a backlash against rich people in this country. They probably will not take the old cards away but I would not be surprised if the number of outstanding Centurions declines as the annual fee goes up.

This decline could also be a way to increase customer service. Minimizing the number out there frees up the resources to serve the few left.

If they truly are eliminating invites and phasing out the card then the remaining holders could benefit greatly.

See my other thread about the upgrade I just scored because I have a card that has been phased out. Nothing like the Cent but better than I have ever heard otherwise nonetheless.

The Cent is like a Halo product for the company. PR and mystique I believe is something the company may want to maintain if not simply for bragging rights against their competitors.

He could certainly ask the right people if he isn't Platinum/Centurion himself. If you had an invite within the past few years, I could fire off an introductory email to a board member for you. It would be up to you to get him to call down for your invite.
