Remember granting of credit goes way beyond just your FICO score. You might have a great FICO score but terrible debt to income ratio so no credit is granted. But JCarter is right that FICO score itself is blind to outstanding credit available. But the credit grantors are not hence they ask you your income and main expenses (housing). During this last economic downturn, lots of people had their credit reduced or taken away even though they had high FICOs and great payment history with their lenders.
