Do additional cards have to be sent to the primary address?

Postby delta359 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 10:26 am

Hello all!

I'm trying to add my son as an additional cardholder to my Platinum account. He's in college in another state; can I enter his address for the card to be sent to online? Or do I have to have it sent to me first?

I don't know the specific answer for certain but I suspect that you can have it sent anywhere you want.

I do know that Amex is very picky about addresses to the point of being just plain wrong! I have a vacation home. Somehow they have detected that in my credit report and insist on sending mail there any time I change my password or anything else like that. We have mail delivery there blocked by the post office so the mail gets returned. This causes Amex to get suspicious. I have told them not to send mail to that address but they always turn that feature back on after a few months.

I would just put your son't address and not worry about it.

You should be able to get this done fairly easy if you call them. They will mail you a card while on vacation to an address that is not your billing address, which is almost the same case. Worst case, you can always change your address to his and change it back after the request is complete.
