Will AmEx allow additional cardholders who have a BK?

Postby sbfw4 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:00 am

I filed for bankruptcy a couple of years ago, there were a couple of amex cards (one for 1500.00 and one for about 30,000.00) my wife has the blue card and I would like to be added to her account (I want it for Costco) from what i have read here, I have a snowballs chance in .... to get approved.

Would asking for an additional card in any way affect her blue card and/or will they approve me?

Any info is appreciated.

I don't recommend this move, they might close her account (i know of one case). Find a bank that allow joint account like chase, which might be more beneficial to you than being an authorized user.

+1 Because AMEX requires the additional cardmembers' SSN, they will find your account and they could find a way to close the Mrs.'s account. $31,500? They are one company I would not want to cross.

If you want to shop at Costco I would recommend using your debit card or seeing about getting an AMEX through Barclay's, First National Bank Omaha or GECRB (Dillard's AMEX)-if you have not also burned these companies in your bky and if your credit is high enough to qualify.

LOL that is exactly what you need, more good news from American Exp.

They made up the most ridiculous reason for closing an account to this couple i know (Member since 2000). They said her spending patterns were suspicious and they were concerned and will be closing her account.

Yea Sureeeeeeee, and Elvis is living in Kalamazoo
