Interesting..... I wonder though if any business like that who doesn't have any relationship with Amex would ever get ticked off at that kind of request like the TCBY one. A lot of people out there I know would deliberately snub someone if they thought they were better and deserved to cut in line just bec they were rich. At least in LA that would happen bec everyone has money but in the midwest I'm sure they would feel honored to have a customer like that and would bend over backwards for them.

Who else besides Visa and American Express issue cards at the black level. Has there been a Mastercard black card made yet?

There's no such thing as an official "black" level of credit cards. Any company can call their card black, or orange, or blue or whatever they want. Just because a company calls it a black card doesn't mean it is equal to the original Amex Centurion.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed and linked to. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Chase Sapphire Preferred

Lots of things made in Japan are very well made. Every been there? It's clean... scary clean. Even the carrots at the grocery store are all the same size in a bunch. I wish they paid as much attention in the states to such things.

You could do that... but you'd pay a lot for just that privilege ;)

Sure you can call and make reservations yourself, but just watch what happens when a someone calls and name drops 'concierge', 'American Express' (still a multi billion dollar brand and one of the most recognizable brand names in the world), and 'black card' in the same sentence. Instead of getting sat by the front door, you will find yourself in much more favorable seating. ;)

This is very true. It has helped me on a number of occasions.
