Since you travel on business what card does your company want you to use? Will your company provide you a small business or corporate card? Are you a vice president, CEO, treasurer, president or chairman? are you allowed to sign for 1 of these cards?
If your company wants you to use your own personal American Express card, have you thought about a high level executive card like a Delta Gold, Jet Blue or Starwood Preferred? My friend and accountant loves his Starwood card.
You ever notice that when your standing inline at a place like Pottery Barn, Body Shop, Evelyn and Crabtree you never see anybody use any of these cards? That's because they are thought of more of an executive level. But if you are at a restaurant or checking into a hotel you will see people using similar cards to these frequently. Have you ever thought about these cards since you travel on business?
My verdict is I actually see more people using the gold rewards than the basic gold. I guess since your company handles your flights I would get the basic gold.
It doesn't look like you will be getting 3X the travel on airfare. except when you travel on vacation. If I were you I would try out the basic gold for a year if you think your points rewards are very slow you can call American Express up and tell them you want the Gold Rewards.
You can't upgrade from a Zync to either Gold
. You can keep the same membership date but you have to reapply. if approved you would be given a different account number but you would keep your 2007 membership date.
