Great, now I just noticed the blue's. How can I figure out which is a better value for me with the annual fee's?

robbdmc, just based on your initial question (Best credit card for work expenses? Mostly hotel stays and driving), and since you are limited to medium to lower Hotels, the SPG or Hilton HHonors are not good options.

I must say to take advantage of the 3X points on gas & 2X on restaurants from AMEX - MB card or go with either of the Blue Cash ones, you can get some cash back (2% to 3%) from gas purchases.

You also mentioned that you are 3 weeks a month on the road, so you should be eating a lot on restaurants, or buying food to prepare at the hotel, so the 6% cash back from Blue Cash Preferred, could be a good money that you can get back.

Put all your expenses on any card you choose, and take advantage of their rewards system.

Hope this help you more.

since you can have anything the 2 cards I would recommend are the chase sapphire or what I have a capitol 1 gold card.

let's say you go to a place that has a busy convention and you are looking for help making dinner reservations or looking for any hotel any time of year, you call the concierge on your visa signature they will be able to help you.

since you don't fly no reason for a jet blue, gold delta or citi american aadvantage. however the starwood is a great card for hotels but there is a 65 fee and no concierge, but with the 2 visas there is. I love my capitol1 gold.

I think I have decided that the Blue from American Express is my best option. It will give me 2x points when I book travel on amex.com and 1pt for everything else. I wish I could get extra on gas or restaurants, but I think I prefer the no annual fee. It seems like the annual fee cards on only worth it if you spend A LOT. If you don’t, it’s just forcing you to budget extra money to use on vacation or other stuff that can be bought with points.
