Then why do you want this card. Even if you travel when you're on break you can use a different card like a Capitol1 journey card or how about the pass card from American express. For you these cards make more sense than the delta gold card.

when you get a full time job traveling for a company then the gold delta makes sense. but not now.

Here's the thing, i only make "on paper" 9.5k last year but my parents give me x amount of money each month which i use to cover my expenses while at school, therefore if i were using this card, i would be able to accumulate miles in a rather short amount of time. I personally despise capitol one by the way.
Cards in my wallet:
-Citi Forward Card for College Students-July 2011
-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013

I despise capitol1 also. I don't see American Express giving students any of therir Delta cards.

When I was 32 in 1998 I applied for there Gold Optima, I had a job and was living at home with parents, saving money at that time. I had a First card gold (they eventually went out of business and Chase took over) American Express didn't give me the gold, they gave me a lower level Blue Optima. I understand you're able to save money, when you want to go on vacation during your breaks you need a card. But I don't see a gold delta is the card for you.

Are there any student cards you do like? Any Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo or PNC?

i have a citi forward card already with a year of credit and a 750 FICO score (might be more now havent checked in a few months..) plus have never missed a bill (always pay in full, never late basically perfect credit)...etc I just wasn't sure I'd be ok with my income..i know people who have gotten the card with FICO in the 600s and far less income than me (students...) whose parents also help out..
