American Express Platinum Companion Ticket Program?

Postby lowphat » Wed Jun 29, 2011 2:50 pm

Hi everyone. Long time lurker and first time poster... I had a question regarding the American Express Platinum companion ticket program for international flights. I read that you can get a free business international flight for your companion if you buy one. I'm thinking of upgrading my card to the Platinum for that offer but I couldn't really find details on what airlines participate in this. Could anyone that knows for sure help me out?

And also, how is the free ticket thing applied? Do you just buy two business class tickets and you get reimbursed for one of them? Or is the offer applied before you actually complete the sale?

Thanks again.

I'm not to sure but if no one replies, I would just call Amex. They are very helpful.

Call the Platinum Travel line at 1-800-546-1791. You have to book through them to use the international buddy pass. If you log in to your account (IF you have a Platinum card) at AMEX, click "travel" on the top bar, then "Book a trip" on the menu that drops down, then "companion air ticket" just to the left of the fight info area.

Pete hit the nail on the head. If you want additional information on how the companion airfare and other benefit work, then check out CCF's very detailed American Express Platinum Card review.
