American Express is going head to head with Paypal by launching a service that allows you to send money from one person to another. The new service is called SERVE.

I signed up for this and it is pretty cool. They sent me a card in the mail, which looks an awful lot like my Zync card. I can use it at any store that accepts AmEx.

When you say they sent you a card, do you mean an Amex card that you can use for purchases? This sounds like it is essentially a reloadable prepaid American Express debit card.

Yup that is exactly what it is. You can link it with your checking account and transfer to and from the card. It is used where ever AMEX is accepted.
