Current Amex holders under cards at your account screen expand your membership

Postby craigm1 » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:32 am

I have a Blue cash card that I spend about 3k a month on I hit cards at my account screen and it say I'm pre-approved for a platinum, green, and zync card has anybody noticed this when they check there account, I guess I'm good enough for platinum but not gold. It almost looks like they want to me to add another card and keep the blue cash, are they doing target marketing or just spamming everyone??. I'm looking to increase my credit line on my blue cash next month and wonder how much I should ask for. If they are targeting me for a platinum any suggestions for a credit line increase I'm at $3800 right now my credit karma score is 746.

I picked up a blue cash after already having 2 good credit cards & history. 3k a month is plenty to be running through it. Amex picked me up at 10k limit I waited for 5 months and increased it to 14k, via their online increase limit function. When you log into see your balance and transactions look at the bottom of the page, it will say request a credit line increase. I would ask for a conservative 5k or less conservative 7k. Putting you at 5k is a relatively high 25% increase. I personally would stay away from their annual fee rewards cards, until I can push some serious cash through them.

my credit was upgraded in the last 6 months. the account exec. at amex 2 months ago told me with my income around 165k and my spending they suggested after 6 months i should ask for them to quadruple the credit my limit is $3800 right now does this seem a little far fetched.

I think it's very common for that to occur. The thing to keep in mind is the annual fee cards can be bigger money makers for them which is why all CC companies encourage us to get them.

I completely agree. There is no reason to pay hundreds in fees unless the annual benefits you get from the card are greater than that. Keep in mind many of the benefits are for travelers.
