It arrived to my local FedEx this morning - Saturday. It also says "Package not due for delivery. Deliver weekday." Which leads me to believe this is how AmEx wanted it.

FedEx delivery on a Saturday is between 2 & 4 times the cost of a weekday.

Then AmEx shouldn't quote next day delivery when ordered on a Thursday...

You and thousands of other people are getting their cards replaced and you expect to be first in line? Now because everything is delayed, people are getting upset. Come on that's ridiculous.

They may have told you to expect it on the 3rd, but they told a huge number of people to expect it on the 31st.

It's not just the delay that bugs us, but the disorganization and/or dishonesty.

Well s*** happens unfortunately. You can prepare from now to kingdom comes there will always be unforeseen circumstances that will happen and you will never know why it happened so considering today is the 1st, you have no choice to wait. Now if they REALLY did lie to you, shame on them yes but they aren't going to tell you every little issue that's happening behind the scene in regards to the card. And to really start taking it out on the CSR when they might now necessarily know what's going on themselves is not cool.

Yes, s*** happens. An example of that is them being unable to meet demand. That, in itself, wouldn't bother me. If they were organized and honest, they would have told me about the delay before processing my request, and I'd have just called back in a month.

But when they are overwhelmed by requests within minutes of the launch, by eleven hours after the launch someone at Amex (maybe in the card printing or shipping department?) should be able to observe that there will be delays. It would be easy to send a quick note to the Platinum team so they can advise customers that any new requests would likely be delayed. Either printing/shipping/whoever knew nothing, didn't tell the CSRs, or the CSRs said nothing.

As I said, disorganization and/or dishonesty on the first day, and a bit of both after that. At some stage, directly or indirectly, mere s*** happening became bulls***ing the customer.

Saturday is not the next day after Thursday. Also, they are going to say "business days" anyway which they will not count Saturday as. Regardless, they're lying all over the place with these metal cards anyway.

The website still tells me it will be arriving yesterday and it shipped Thursday....

You might not have read or understood the post maybe.

They explicitly told me (voluntarily) you will have the card tomorrow (which was 3/31). Then they looked up my address and said it would come FedEx and asked if I wanted it for AM delivery or PM delivery. I told them AM. Beyond that, as I clearly said, my issue was not with not receiving the card or even the misinformation presented during my request. My issue was with the chat reps refusing repeatedly to admit honestly that the card had not shipped and they didn't know when it would.

I have realistic expectations and I'm a reasonable person. I don't like being lied to. I could really care less about the new card and the timeframe within which it arrives. I care about the reps being forthright and honest and handling the situation directly instead of wasting my time.

Then it is obvious Tubpbs that you didn't thoroughly read my post. I said specifically that "if they did lie, then shame on them." Never said anything about you being unreasonable. I'm in no rush for my card and expect a delay with the shipping out of any new product. The same thing happened with the CSR when they ran out of metal cards and was forced to send plastic cards. But like I said something behind the scenes happened and no one got their cards.

You're combining two different posts.

Anyway, you made it clear that lying or not it wasn't a problem. I agree 100% that not getting the card in one day or one week or whatever is not a big deal at all (except for CarefulBuilder who admittedly put himself in a snag - though I'm sure he'll be fine and get the card within a few days). My problem was with the repeated lying and nonsense.

I don't think we're on a different page really.

The owner of my favorite semi-local restaurant says they just joined Ubereats. :)

But then I check and find I'm outside their delivery area. :(

Not that I'm super-close, but it looks like they don't deliver further than like a quarter mile in an area that is not terribly high-density.

No word from Amex. I'm not flying for a bit (so don't need the lounges) and have a few hundred to go on SPG minimum spend part two. As long as I can register it on Uber within a week, or get an April credit retroactively, I'm fine with it taking a while.

Not that their previous BS was justified...

Update: Shipment info sent to Fedex with a valid tracking number, so that's good news. The package itself has not apparently moved (but I know shipping updates are often far from instant).

I'm assuming they'd only contact Fedex once the card had been printed and was sitting in an envelope (as opposed to contacting Fedex about a shipment they expected to have ready by the time of the next pickup).

Got my Metal card in today... it's a little too ostentatious for my liking... very reflective...

Ha...it's hard to satisfy everyone's tastes. I've read a lot more comments along the lines of "it's not heavy enough".

Too ostentatious for you, not enough for others.

I guess people could want a heavy card that's absorptive, though.
