I think the average person pays very little attention to things like dispute resolution, price protection, etc unless something goes seriously wrong (i.e. fraud). Day to day, most people probably don't even realize these perks exist and/or are too lazy to go through the effort of using them. So while they can be a factor in card selection, I'd guess it's low on the majority of people's radar.

A lot of people still have the mindset of "Amex = Prestigious" whether the points are as "good" as Chase's points or not. A lot of people either redeem for cash/gift cards or don't redeem at all. There aren't many people optimizing redemptions outside of these forums, and so I don't tend to think that many people care about earn rate per dollar. It just isn't that important to people. When I try to discuss cards with family/friends their eyes pretty much glaze over immediately, so obviously anecdotal, but I think the majority just doesn't find it that interesting. They use whatever card is convenient and live their lives.

MR are really only valuable anymore if you hold the AX Business PT with 50% MR refund on pay with points booking (biz/1st/Econ on preferred airline) airfare through the AX site.

There used to be some consensus that while Chase UR had fewer partners, they were generally better partners. I'm not sure of the extent to which that's still true for me. I've been having headaches with award availability for United and Hyatt, while Delta gives me a few decent options with no close-in award booking fee.

I focus more on perks and bonuses.

I'm not sure what you mean by "better" partners. In my opinion, Delta and Hilton are popular partners, even if HHonors points aren't worth 1 cent a piece.

Better partners are ones where you can transfer points and get enough value to justify the extra complexity over just earning cash back and using the for travel. Hiltons are more common than Hyatts, but points often go much further with Hyatt.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

In that case I'm surprised Jet Blue isn't a part of their 1:1 transfer list. AMEX says 1000 MR points = 800 Jet Blue Points redemption-wise, but each Jet Blue point is worth 1.4-1.8 cents a piece. If Chase had 1000 UR points = 1000 Jet Blue points, that'd tip the hat in their favor for those who fly Jet Blue and don't want to deal with Barclays (such as myself who will never give them another penny again).

Hilton pts are next to worthless for me. I've got about 80K stashed that I can't do jack with stateside. Not to mention the latest devaluation in the form of removing categories.

Or that, like IHG, they can be often bought cheaply. Sending URs to IHG or MRs to Hilton is just flushing them down the toilet. Might as well spend the points at Chili's.

How next to worthless for you? I had a paid Hilton stay that as an award would have given me 0.2 cpp. That's the worst value I've encountered.

Im not spending 30,000HH on a room that costs me $104 all in, regardless if I get a suite Upgrade due to having Hilton Diamond.

How'd you get Diamond? A Spire match?

I'd like to pick that up, especially if Gold is devalued. I need to be more attuned to match promos, whether I stay there or just use it go match elsewhere.
