Member Since on American Express cards?

Postby craigm1 » Sat Dec 04, 2010 9:09 pm

I have been a American Express member since 89 is there a reason only the charge cards show the member since date and not the credit cards? I had a green, gold, and platinum card which said the member since date, it annoys me I have a blue cash that the member since date is not on the card.

That's a good question Craig.

I have no idea why the member since date is one most American Express cards but not some of the consumer credit cards like the Blue. It could be a marketing move that's intentional on Amex's part, because the credit cards are not marketed to be prestigious like their charge cards are.

I believe at least one other bank has copied "cardmember since" and used it on non-American Express cards. It was on a Citi or Bank of America higher end card that I was considering a couple years ago.

My Visa Signature Bank Americard and my Discover More card both have Member Since on them.

I had an At&t Universal card and it said member since it even said charter member. I really feel like The Blue cash will give me the best rewards based on my spending over the Gold, I feel almost like the blue cards are a lower class then the green or gold. If I had a green or gold card it would say member since 89. I wonder if people complained when they were on a service call with them if they might change their ways.

I got my Citi Thank You Premier in the mail on Monday, it has "Member Since" on it. The year listed is "10" which is not right because I have been a Citi cardholder since '05.

Amex goes by the date you've been a cardmember, not the date you have that particular card.

I think this is becoming more common. My BofA card has member since but it is printed on the card not a raised stamp like Amex does.

Are you sure? Mine was replaced in October or November and there is no member since date on it.

I had received a new cash amex card 2 weeks earlier and it didn't have the member since date on it I called amex told them a co-worker just got a new card it had the member since date on it and and I wanted a new card issued and a week later it came and had it on it. My member since date is 89 so If it was possible I wanted it on there. Call them and tell them the same thing.
