American Express with no credit?

Postby brios » Wed Oct 27, 2010 9:48 pm

Is it possible to get approved for a Zync card if you have no credit at all? I also do not have a SSN.

My income is high, and I have a American Express from Canada, but I recently got that (1 month ago).
I called before and applied over the phone with no ssn and did not tell them about my other amex card, and they cancelled the application. They said I had to confirm my address and give them a copy of my id.
Should I reapply and tell them I have an amex from canada?

I think you need a SSN to apply for a credit card in this country. An American Express with no credit won't happen I don't think even if you did have a social. Amex is super picky.

Cucumber I do not know if that statement is correct, that an American Express with no credit is impossible. There have been talk on the forum about 18 year olds getting approved with the Amex Zync. I would have to go back and look at the details shared by the posters but I could swear at least one of them claimed to have no credit cards and getting approved but I could be wrong on that.

I mean it *might* be possible but I know what posts you are talking about and some of them had another card already.

It's too bad AMEX doesn't have a student card anymore because that would be ideal for having no credit.

Getting an American Express with no credit history whatsoever may not be possible, but Credit Card Forum has received a large number of posts from individuals being approved for the Zync card with little credit history. To learn more check out our American Express Zync card review

No chance sorry, I got in with no credit history after an id theft but I had a long relationship with AMEX already. No SSN means no credit unless you are willing to deal with BOFA

watch before we know it banks will be back giving credit cards to kids like candy including american express. that might seem impossible but does anyone actually think banking will keep up responsible lending forever? no we will go back to how easy credit was during the 00s after the financial mess is further in the past. it was too profitable for banking to give it up altogether and why should they when the govt will bail out mistakes?

History does have a tendency to repeat itself but how soon will that be? Who knows.
