Delta AmEx Gold 60K offer question

Postby TXviking » Sat Sep 24, 2016 2:54 pm

Delta is giving me the 60K mile + $50 statement credit offer again. At this point, I probably fly Delta 10-20 times per year, but it's mostly for business and work reimburses luggage fees.

Still, the extra mileage pretty much translates into a couple of free personal trips. I'm wary of adding another AF card, but it's a tempting offer.

Soliciting opinions. Should I go for it? Should I wait for something better to come along? Or should I just leave it be and keep gardening?

Sounds like an amazing card for you. Does your offer include the AF being waived the first year?

If so, it sounds like you should at least give it a year test run. See how you make out after 12 months or 24 months. 60,000 miles covers the AF for the second year very easily...
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

Is your employer willing to reimburse your annual fees, since getting the card would save them money?

If so...and maybe even if not...with 10 to 20 Delta flights per year you might even consider a card with a higher AF and more benefits (like MQMs and lounge access).

You've mentioned going through PBI and ATL, so you'd have lots of chances to enjoy lounge access.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

I might persuade the employer to cover a $95 AF. $495, doubt it. But yes, the offer includes an AF waiver for the first year. As such, I guess the only thing I stand to lose is the credit hit.
