Starting with Zync

Postby Michael_S » Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:53 pm

Forgive my ignorance but i thought the Zymc was for people who are just starting out in life ,IE college students, people that havent established any credit. I have read here on the forum that the Zync is the easiest to get approved for but i didn't think i could get one.

From what I can gather, Zync is for those starting out in life, but probably not just starting out with credit. After reading everything I could find, it appears that American Express is looking for the beginning of a good credit history. In my case, I have had a bank installment loan and also a credit card for about a year, with no late payments.

Before I applied for the Zync card, I had my mother apply for the Gold card and order one under my name as well. According to an American Express service representative, having a card with your name on it helps build an in-house history with them, even if you aren't the primary cardmember.

Yes,

I have heard that to. I was thinking about going ahead and getting one for my fiance to since I know she needs the help on her credit as well.

Do you still build credit with the Zync card? I just applied and got approved for one, but now I am thinking I should have went with a conventional credit card over a charge card. I still have 1 regular credit card.

Having a mix is good but at the same time it probably wouldn't be good to just open up a bunch of cards for the heck of it. I would gradually acquire a couple more credit cards over the next year, but don't apply for them all at once.
