Traveling purchases paid over time

Postby naksutra » Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:24 pm

hello people, this is my first post...
i was searching for the answer on my question but didn't find it, hope i'm not repeating something that was asked before...

i don't know if the question is stupid but i don't know enough about cards so would be great if i can get some help here, this is what i was wondering:
Is it possible to buy a fly ticket with American express card and then pay it monthly as a credit, for example: i buy a ticket to New York that costs 1000dollars, can i buy it with American and pay in 5 month, 200dollars monthly??

i'm sorry if the question is funny but i don't know much...thanks!

That is correct. You will also pay interest in addition to the $200/month.

I would recommend learning more about the basics of credit cards before using them to avoid any surprises later on.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed and linked to. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Chase Sapphire Preferred

It is important to understand the difference between a credit card and a charge card. A credit card can be paid over time. The charge card requires payment in full when the bill comes!

What kind of AMEX card do you have and what interest do you have?
