Plenti - non card earned points

Postby Tubpbs » Wed Jun 15, 2016 11:59 am

I signed a bunch of crap up on a Plenti account about a year ago for no particular reason - I saw no reason not to.

I just got an email from AT&T nerfing the dirt out of the earnings I theoretically get from having my accounts linked. I really really don't care because I doubt I'll ever use any of the points I've accrued (but maybe), but I did think it was interesting. The system is barely a year or so old and it just getting going maybe and I feel like along with Exxon/Mobile AT&T is their biggest partner. Earnings getting cut at least in half. Pretty bad. But don't care. But someone on here might...

They're cutting the earnings on AT&T bills in half? I tried to find that on the AT&T website, but all it says is 1 point per $1 until the end of August. Sounds like they're being extra cheap, since those points are only a very small part of my $200 wireless bill.

I earned 0.1% at Macy's. What's the point of them even being a participant? :beat:

It was a secured message of sorts. It definitely said its going from 1 point for every $2. And it said something about potentially not receiving any points in certain circumstances.

So Macy's can try to sell Macy's cards to Plenti members?

That might be it. I would have thought someone at Amex would have told Macy's they needed to be serious about it, but I guess Amex was desperate to bring in partners at any level of participation.

Macy's gets free advertising, the chance to persuade people they are carrying junk plastic, and all it costs them is 1% of their operating margin ($0.10 off $10 per $100 in sales).

Sometimes they give 200 or 500 points for making purchases on certain days. It's mostly just so you can redeem those mysterious points that you have plenti of but add up to very little...

Also now the Macy's Amex gives 2 points on gas/supermarkets and 1 point on all other purchases, which makes it just about as good as the plenti card itself (if anyone actually likes it).

Hopefully the new changes AT&T is making won't make the program totally useless.

The AT&T change is pretty ridiculous, besides the fact that they haven't added any partners since launch that I know of. Still a very niche program and very limited options with redeeming the points.

The program needs to either be completely overhauled or they need to just give up. I work for Rite Aid and it's been one headache after the other.
