AmEx FICO score

Postby TXviking » Thu May 12, 2016 3:51 pm

My statement closing date is the 29th, and usually AmEx provides a new monthly FICO score 3-5 days later. This month, nothing. I called to ask a CSR why not, and learned that AmEx only provides a FICO score for billing periods during which your account showed activity. My AmEx accounts had no activity in April; thus, no FICO score.

Thought I would share this limitation with the forum, in case I wasn't the only one who was unaware of it.

I believe Discover does the same thing.

I've gotten a FICO score every month, despite not generating a statement every period. I've never gone two consecutive periods without generating a statement, though.

I received 2 scores in March but I applied for a new card back then. This month's scores seem to be earlier than usual for me and my wife.

I believe it has to do with factors other than score though such as income and credit profile.

Amex Question

Postby Larry1 » Wed May 25, 2016 3:23 pm

I recently applied, actually a week ago got up enough nerve to apply for an Amex Classic Green. Nothing bad on my credit all accounts paid as agreed high 600’s in the credit score across the board. I was initially denied and I asked to be reconsidered and was surprised that they would agree to do that. I checked today and my application status is now We will notify you once your application has been processed, or if we need additional information. If you wish to view an electronic communication of your decision details once we have made a decision. Does anyone have any advice on next steps or possible outcomes at this point?

Did you receive the initial denial letter yet? It will explain what issues they had with your profile and why they denied the application. That could give you the edge for a call in and discussion about reconsidering your application. i.e. - they say they denied you for reason X, you can call and explain what is going on with X or why it happened or whatever it may.

If you really have no negative information, the likely reason may be that your credit history is too short or you have too many recent inquires or something like that... What is your average age of accounts? Oldest account? How many recent inquiries? Any other info you can supply?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It
