Loolol. Don't give up on the dream. I too was denied back in September when I applied. I waited 5 months for my scores to go up and got approved for a charge card a few weeks ago. Just work on improving your chances.

If I applied for a charge card instead, will they let you convert to a BCE or credit after some time with good history?

BTW the card I initially applied for was the charge card that I got after the 2nd attempt, no the ED. I am not saying it's easier to get the charge cards. I am however saying to boost up your profile and app again in a few months. Wait at least 3 months, preferably 6.

To answer your question, No. You can add a new account yes but you can't just convert a charge card to a credit card that's not how it works.
