http://www.americanexpress.com/samsclub

Here are the terms and note, THE LINK WILL BEGIN TO WORK STARTING OCTOBER 1st

From October 1-31, Card Members will receive a one-time $25 statement credit when they use an enrolled, eligible Card to spend $45 or more on a new Sam's Club membership. Terms and conditions apply. Enrollment is required and is limited. Not all cards are eligible. Visit http://www.americanexpress.com/samsclub starting October 1 to learn more and to view terms and conditions.

One thing to note, it MAY work on any purchase as long as it's $45 or more, but will not find out till about 1 week after the start of promo. Not even sure if it will be in store or online. Be sure to register!

Thanks for the heads up - tried the link but when i try to apply it I get

"Sorry about that! The offer you selected is no longer available. Take advantage of available offers by selecting the ones you like."

Vermonster is right. The link might not be working right but it should be under your Amex offers. Just added it under my Amex offers.

Works fine for me. Maybe you were too early.

That seems to have been the case. "Early bird doesn't always catch the worm." lol

This is lame for current members--although I completely understand. Now I have to decide if I want to close my membership and open a new one in my wifes name or open a business acct so I can get the $25 credit. My membership is due in November so it is perfect timing...

My only reservation--and I admit it is insignificant in the big picture--is that I've had my membership card since Oct 2003 and I hate to give it up. It's the oldest continuous use piece of plastic in my wallet--12 years and no replacement cards! :lift:

I wonder if buying a $45 membership gift card would count...

It's probably worth a try. If it works, I can just apply the GC to my renewal...if not, I need to pay for my renewal anyway. I'll let you know!

Unfortunately, it's been reported in other forums it won't work unless you purchase the membership directly, not the gift of membership. The posted transaction for the membership purchase comes out as
Sam's Membership
whereas the purchase for any other product gets posted as
Sam's Club #XXXX

It seems this is the case. I ended up renewing my membership and the transaction posted as Gamma said. It seems odd they would have a separate merchant code just for initial memberships...

I was really hoping it would work, I get a $15 GC for being military and the $25 would have brought my annual membership down to $5!! Too good to be true :)
