Booking through Amex travel

Postby cameraguy84 » Wed Sep 02, 2015 10:17 pm

Looking to book a trip to the caymans as well as a hotel. Wise to book through amex travel's site?

I'll be using my gold premier card for the purchase.. do I still get the 3x points? I know it says when booked directly through the airline but is this the same thing?

Thanks!

I've just had a headache with AmEx travel...

I made a reservation using their Gold Hotel Collection website... I never received a confirmation e-mail from AmEx... I contacted the hotel, they have record of my booking and told me to contact AmEx if I wanted to receive a confirmation email for my records. I do want to have my own confirmation for piece of mind.

I contacted AmEx travel... I explain the situation... Told I need to be connected to The Hotel Collection Department... Fine, thats not a problem. I ask for their international number in case I get disconnected... I write it down... The number they transfer me to goes dead... I call the international number they provide me... It doesn't work...

I call the regular AmEx travel again and ask for the Gold Hotel Collection Department... I'm told there is no such department...

I end the call and try again, finally get through to the Hotel Collection Department... I'm told I should receive an email with reconfirmation within 5-30 minutes... 30 minutes passes, I go through the whole ordeal of contacting the Hotel Collection line again... To which the same man answers, and he tells me "The email can take up to 24 hours..."... I'm pretty upset with being transferred multiple times and having to call back several times... I cut him off and explain I was told I should receive the email within 30 minutes... "Well... thats correct, if you don't receive the email within 30 minutes... It'll be 24 hours"... Its been 24 hours and I haven't received the e-mail...

After all this hassle and headache... I better receive the promised upgrade at the hotel! :-p

All for a confirmation for my piece of mind! Ha
