Amex changing my card without my consent?

Postby eep » Wed Aug 19, 2015 10:01 am

today i got an email "We recently sent you a letter to let you know that your Blue from American Express Card is being upgraded to the Amex EveryDay Card. Your account will be upgraded automatically to an Amex EveryDay Card account... "

I never got such a letter and I never asked for my card to be switched to something else. Can they do this w/o my consent? what reasons would they have to do this? the only thing i can think of is if they are discontinuing the blue card?

If you have paperless you might have gotten an email. Did you check to make sure that you have the most up to date address and email?

But yes, they can pretty much do whatever they want as long as they don't start charging you an AF without another option. You should be happy about this. It isn't much of a change, but the ED is much better than the Blue.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Unless they are raising your APR or changing your account number, be happy about it. ED's rewards are better than Blue's.

SD: Arrival BrooksBros BCE ED IHG
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

thanks for the info. I've never had a cc company switch a card of mine out of the blue like this, so it was very strange to me. From the email, it says the acct # will stay the same

Credit card companies do this all the time. the card you have is discontinued, so they move you to something else. Might be as good, might be better, might be worse, but for them, it keeps you as a customer.

Go through your statements and check the last few pages. They tend to stick account notices on the last few pages of your statement each month.
