Some questions regarding Platinum card,

Postby capekid » Tue Jul 07, 2015 8:38 pm

Hi,

I will be traveling in September to Europe. I am not paying for my plane tickets and hotel accommodations. It is a family trip, and I will be flying with my parents who have a large amount of Delta Skymiles. I plan to give them my Delta gift cards to apply if needed. I have some follow up questions in regard to this.

1- Is there a limit to how many airline gift cards you can use at once? Has anyone bought a airline gift card using their credit for more money than $50?

2- Can I gift points to my parents since they are immediate family? At one time, I was an authorized user of their Delta Amex, however it was closed once
I went to college years ago. My current Amex is completely separate.

3- Can I get them lounge access with me?

I might think of a few other questions. Much appreciated.

I had Platinum but never used it for travel (thus the keyword being "had").

I *think* you can get a guest in the lounge with you I believe it's one and the rest would have to pay a fee, if I remember right.

I don't know if there is a limit to the number of gift cards. As far as points with relatives, I don't know. My guess would be no, but you'd pretty much have to ask Amex about it.

I'd suggest looking at the relevant thread on FlyerTalk. They have threads for user experience with the different airlines.

Depends on the lounge program. The Platinum has access to the Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select, Delta Skyclubs and Airspace Lounges.

You can get yourself and two guests into the Centurion lounges, I beleive the Aerospace lounges also. You will have to pay to get guests into Priority Pass lounges and Delta SkyClubs.
American Express Platinum Card
American Express TrueEarnings Card from Costco
Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard
Discover It
