Amex $100 Airline credit- Debate...

Postby nismoZtuner » Tue Jun 09, 2015 1:52 pm

So my friend and I have been debating about the $100 airline credit Amex added to our PRG. My friend is going to Japan and im going to Hawaii, I tell him we can use the credit for anything like food, drinks, seats and luggage- he says that food does not count that "refreshments" are only considered drinks ..

so does food really count?

Exclusions from the terms -- which can be found at:
https://www.americanexpress.com/us/cred ... rdbenefits

Airline tickets, upgrades, mileage points purchases, mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, duty free purchases, and award tickets are not deemed to be incidental fees.

There are ways around the restrictions with at least some airlines such as the gift registry with United -- which I just recently used recently to ensure full usage of the credit. I'd suggest referring to the airline specific credit threads on FlyerTalk.
